Money without sobriety, without hobbies, without people, without a clear head, isn't freedom — it just removes the excuses. You wanted to escape the job; now there's no job and you're still you, with more time to notice it.
That's why freedom sits at Step Nine, not Step One. It only means something once the eight things under it are real. Chase it first and all you buy is a nicer place to be lost in.
